From February 9 - 11, 2016 senior executives and counsels from NASCO member companies were joined by executives from more than a dozen other security and industry related companies to participate in the NASCO Private Security Industry Leaders’ Roundtable held at the Ritz Carlton in Florida. The program featured a wide range of speakers and discussions on industry related business, legal, labor and well as other topics. The upcoming 2016 election from both a purely political and employer perspective was the focus of several presentations. Attendees also heard from the Airport Director of the largest airport, so far, in the U.S. that has converted from federal government screeners to private screeners. It was a very positive story.
Also, held in conjunction with the Roundtable was a NASCO “Legal Forum” meeting which featured detailed presentations and discussion on liability and employment issues for contract security companies. Such topics included the treatment of contract security companies as “joint-employers”, meal and rest break litigation and legislation, and contract security company liability in active shooter incident.
